Blogging isn't about the numbers for me. Although, I have noticed a change. Comparing the numbers. A change in visitors, a change in posts, a change in traffic and a definite change in the kind of posts I like to do. Significantly so, that I questioned myself what could be happening. Take January 2021. Total posts 19 in comparison to January 2023 where I posted 26 times. Visitor counts 825 vs 198. Views: 1818 vs 460. I've expanded my posts to include Facebook and dropped discord unless required by sponsor. My feed share is the same. My follower base in up slightly. Even then numbers from flicker are wildly different over previous year's numbers. I went pro, this the second year to be doing so. Still, the engagement with readership is low. Why? Maybe I just love blogging more than others care about my posts. Is the market of readership switched to other forums about second life activities? Perhaps, to many Photo/details/URLs/ posts compared to a bit of writing, telling a story THEN a photo post like I am doing today. I can't pinpoint it. I just feel the shift. With that said, blogging is still not about the numbers for me. I appreciate the comments and likes, and the group invites others take the time to share with me, but blogging is my creative outlet. I get to put RL aside for the hour or two that I'm blogging either creating spaces or dressing up for fun. Of course, to be hired by brands, they check out the numbers. That's the Ying and yang of it all. The irony in popularity. If my posts are well recieved, I'm creating more exposure for the brand I'm marketing. Should I care about the numbers? I suppose, I should, since I've noticed the shift. Perhaps look for ways to draw in more attention or engagement with the second life citizens. If I figure it out, I'll share so we all can grow together. Until next time ...
