.. what happened to the art of tea and conversation? ..
Growing up I would visit my Nana during summer vacations for weeks at a time. We often would have a cup of tea and talk for hours on end. I miss my Nana and her stories of our family history. She would laugh from the heart of her belly and taught me to not be so serious in life. People passing by her home almost always would walk up to the porch and have a few words and spend time connecting with my generous hostess. The sense that life was simple back then, I feel more often then not as I grow older. Being on vacation I made it a personal mission to sit and connect with my family. Lunch on the water with my sister, coffee with my son and his daughter, a walk with my brother, a visit with my Mother and my weekend with the love and protector in my life, Andy. I loved my visits and learned that in the world of technology the art of a conversation has nearly disappeared. Have you noticed that inworld people do not “chat” as much as hold up court within a space, otherwise known has “being parked”? Snoop and I search the Grid for places with great music and a lot of people that are actually talking to one another. We have increasingly become frustrated in that hunt. Where is everyone? Where do they all go to? I also notice that SL is decreasing in citizenship. When I first signed into SL there were over 100,000 people sign on at any one time and the lag was terrible. Today, SL has topped out at 52,000 and that number is going down each passing week. My guess? chat is slowly going away as well. People are more detached then ever with individual devices of iPads, iPhones to keep themselves occupied in the down times of life. I hope that there is a resurgent one day, but only time will tell. Until next time …

Oh I was on the bus the other morning and everyone around me (approximately ten people) had their heads buried in their phones.
Then I got off the bus and most of the people walking towards me either had a phone to their ear or were staring at it’s screen.
I reckon in old age they’ll all have bad neck issues. Lol

I remember being in a crowded doctor’s office recently and as I looked around everyone had their heads buried in their phones. Not one was conversing. Not even folks who came together. I sat there and thought to myself how antisocial we’ve become because of a device made for socializing.

Yes! I have had the same observation. I am putting my phone away when I am in the company of others. I hope more do the same. Thank you for your comment!
