…You were here not long ago…

This past weekend I had my family over for brunch. As we all gathered around the dining room table I realized how important they are to me. How my life has changed over the years, and how somehow I became the one to keep everyone together. Gatherings of importance usually happen at my house. We were speaking of 9/11 and where we all were on that day. Each of us away from home, but we ended up again, go on and guess, my house. I was at work that morning, listening to my co-worker singing off key I might add to a small clock radio that crackled when the bass was turned up to high, when I heard the announcement by Peter Jennings that a plane crashed into World Trade Center, tower 1. I reached over to that piece of crap and turned up the volume to hear more details. My sister, worked near the towers, and I wondered at that time did she see what was going on from her office building. It seemed like an eternity before Peter came back to say another plane crashed into the second tower and now it was suspected we were under attack. From that point on my family was in panic mode calling each other trying to share information about my sister and her husband, both working in NYC. They ended up walking over the 52nd St Bridge with so many others, walking for miles before they finally caught a taxi home 14 hours later on Long Island. The rest of us all gathered at my home. My Mom the most scared and her fear uncontrollable speaking of Japans attack on Pearl Harbor. My Dad had died only 9 months earlier and he would of known how to comfort her, but that was left for me to do. 13 years have past, and we each wondered what has changed aside from the people gathered around the table. Terrorism is still a very real issue today as it was in 2001, very little has changed aside from the players in the game. What hasn’t  changed is my love of my home, the love of having my family gather together in my home, the love of creating a warm, caring, safe atmosphere, and the love of my Andy. It is no wonder that I have carried that same love into Second Life.  Until next time…
